Secure Printing On A Ricoh
Step 1: Bring up the print dialog
Initiate the printing process from your application by selecting 'Print,' which will open the print dialog box. If necessary, click on 'Print Options' or 'Options' to access a window resembling the provided screenshot. Once there, choose a Ricoh printer from the list, and then click on the 'Properties' button, typically found to the right of the printer selection area.
Step 2: Click the drop down for print job type
Located slightly to the right of the center and about two-thirds down the interface, you'll find a drop-down menu for selecting the type of print job. Next to this menu, there's a 'Details' button. Click on the drop-down menu, which is initially set to 'Normal Print,' and choose 'Locked Print.' Then, proceed by clicking the 'Details' button adjacent to the drop-down.
Note: Alternatively, you can select 'Hold Print' if you wish to send a print job that does not require security measures. This option functions similarly to 'Locked Print,' but it does not necessitate a password or PIN for printing the document at the printer."
Step 3: Set User ID and password
The details window presents a drop-down menu and two text fields. First, click on the drop-down menu and select 'Windows Login Name.' This action will automatically fill in the upper text field and make it non-editable. Then, in the lower text field, input a numeric password. After entering the password, click 'OK' to confirm. This password will be essential for selecting and printing your job at the printer, as the print job will only be released upon its entry.
Step 4: Select the Printer Function on the printer
Activate the printer function on the Multi-Function Printer (MFP) to access and release your print jobs. This can be done by either pressing the designated printer button or selecting the printer function from the touch screen display. Next, navigate to the 'Print Jobs' tab and select your User ID to proceed. Note that the specific steps may vary slightly depending on the model of the printer.
Step 5: Select the job you want to print
Step 6: Enter the password you set
Simply input the password you previously established for the task, and then click the 'OK' button to proceed.
Step 7: Press "Print" Secure Print Enabled!
A prompt will appear to confirm your print request. Click on the 'Print' button to proceed. Once the document is printed, you can collect it from the printer's output tray.
